Sophia Natane Banker

September 24, 1998 – September 15, 2021

Sophia Natane Banker, 22, left her earthly home to be with her Savior on September 15, 2021, at Compassus Hospice.

Sophia was born on September 24, 1998, to parents, Kevin and Diane (Voglewede) Banker. She was a beautiful person, both inside and out. Her parents stated that she had, what they called, the “Sophia Effect.” Meaning that she touched the lives of so many people and brought them happiness/comfort. She was a light in the darkness and will be missed terribly by those who knew her.

Sophia found her spiritual home at St. Vincent’s and St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she was a faithful member for many years. She was also a member of the Ainsley’s Angels and participated in many events. Sophia absolutely loved ballet, both watching and performing it. She especially loved, “The Nutcracker” and would listen to the soundtrack on repeat. She always woke up happy.

Sophia will be dearly missed by her parents, Kevin and Diane; her brothers, Preston, Foster, and Cy; her uncle, Jeffery Banker; her maternal grandparents, Gerald and Carolyn Voglewede; her numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; her dog, Max; her special friend, Diana at Camp Quality; her special campers at Camp Quality; and her special friends with the Anderson Fire Department, Anderson Police Department, NSWC Crane, and her military family.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Jerry and Patricia Banker.

The family would like to thank Compassus Hospice for all their love and support during Sophia’s last days.

The visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Friday, September 24, 2021, at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, 1723 I St., Bedford, IN 47421. Funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. at the church. There will be another visitation from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, 515 E. 53 rd St., Anderson, IN 46013. A private family graveside will follow.
