Events to help upkeep Old Leipsic School House announced

LEIPSIC – The non-profit organization, Northeast Township Community Center, announces the reorganization of their board of directors.

Lanora Hardman recently passed the torch to Mary Hardy and Tara Jenkins, both of Northeast Township.

The Hardmans

Hardman lead the organization for decades, which saw to the upkeep and use of the old Leipsic School House in Leipsic, Indiana.

The schoolhouse continues to be available to rent for personal events. The building is an original two-room schoolhouse with a kitchen add-on. The schoolhouse has been a steady presence in the township hosting many community events throughout the years. As part of the reorganization, a schedule of fundraising events has been planned.

All funds raised will be used to pay monthly utility and maintenance fees of the school.

The first event will be a pancake and sausage breakfast on Saturday, September 18th from 7 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. If you live in Orange County, consider hauling your trash to the Leipsic Transfer Center and grab breakfast with your neighbors in the old schoolhouse.

Other future events include a haunted schoolhouse in October and the annual chili supper in November.
