Roy Lee “Wheatie” Brock

Roy Lee “Wheatie” Brock, 84, of Williams, passed away Friday, Aug. 19, 2021.

He was born in Martin County on Nov. 18, 1936, to Everett and Maggie (Craig) Brock. He married Mary Regina Keith on Dec. 29, 1956, and she survives.

Wheatie attended Williams High School and was a heavy equipment operator and logger. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church and enjoyed raccoon hunting, working, providing for the family, camping, and coaching the grandkids in basketball.

Surviving to cherish Wheatie’s memory are his wife, Regina of Williams; daughters, Sharon (Jack) Rainey and Lisa Rainey; son, Samuel (Sherri) Brock; grandsons, Matthew (Crystal) Rainey, Jason (Willow) Rainey, Issac (Jennifer) Rainey, and Chad (Kim) Brock; granddaughters, Shanon (Shane) Greenwell, Jessica Rainey and Leah (Andy) McLeod; 18 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Emma “Sue” Cagel, Virginia “Ginny” (Jack) Charles, Barbara (Larry) Southern, and Bonnie Lynch.

Preceding Wheatie in death were his parents; son-in-law, Robert “Bob” Rainey; and siblings, Marvin “Mose” Brock, Isis “Tabby” Gore, Robert Brock, Joy Hacker, Anna Williams, Ruby George, Fred Brock, Willie Brock, Homer Brock, and Sharon Rose Brock.

Visitation for Wheatie will be Monday, August 23, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Bedford. Funeral services will be held Monday at 3:00 p.m. also at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel with Greg Ward officiating. Private family burial will be in the Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery later.
