Paoli man arrested after nicking woman’s neck with a kitchen knife

MITCHELL – A Paoli man was arrested on a warrant on a charge of domestic battery after Mitchell Police officers were called to the 430 block of West Oak Street regarding a battery on the evening of July 20th.

When police arrived they found a female behind the home. She told police 31-year-old Stephen Alvey had been drinking whiskey and began calling her vulgar names.

When she suggested he go to bed. He then grabbed her by the face and she pushed him away. He then stepped back and struck a bouncer seat where their 7-month-old child was sitting. He once again placed his hand on her face and acted like he was going to hit her with the whiskey bottle. He then placed the bottle in his pocket and picked up a kitchen knife and placed it to the woman’s throat and grabbed her arm just above her wrist. At that time, he pulled her closer to him and nicked her neck with the knife. 

After he attempted to coerce her to follow him into the kitchen, the woman took the children into a bedroom. Alvey then fled the home and she called the police.

The information was forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
