IWiT welcomes new executive director, Melissa Jacobs

INDIANAPOLIS –  Indy Women in Tech (IWiT) has selected Melissa Jacobs to serve as the new Executive Director. Jacobs previously served as Senior Vice President of Sponsorships and Corporate Communication for Group1001.

“In five years, Indy Women in Tech’s leaders have developed it into the premier organization to empower and inspire females in tech,” said Jacobs. “With equity and inclusion at the forefront of employee engagement, I’m inspired to guide IWiT into the future with expanded corporate partnerships, innovative funding streams, and drive more women into the dynamic tech talent pipeline.”

Melissa has spent her career ensuring organizations effectively leverage their awareness through storytelling, strategic activation, community-based collaborative partnerships, and integrated marketing.

She is a member of Epsilon Eta Chapter of Tri Kappa and the Leukemia Lymphoma Society’s Executive Leadership Committee for its Students of the Year program. Additionally, she is the former President of the Board for the Speedway Chamber of Commerce and a member of the American Legion Post 500 Auxiliary. She has recently been appointed to the Dean’s Executive Advisory Council for the College of Communication, Information, and Media at Ball State University, her alma mater, having earned her degree in journalism. The new Executive Director joins the team as IWiT prepares to host two signature events and celebrate its fifth anniversary on November 3:

FuturisTECH Benefit is scheduled for August 15 at the Dallara Indy Car Factory starting at 6 PM. The evening brings together the Indy Tech community to raise money for the Indy Women in Tech Foundation. All proceeds go towards helping more women and girls enter the Indy tech workforce through scholarships, emergency aid, childcare assistance, and equipment.

The IWiT Summit is scheduled for August 25 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway at 9:00 AM. Following a theme of “EMPOWER. INSPIRE. INNOVATE,” the event features speakers Autumn Manning, Erik Qualman, and alumni of the IWiT scholar programs. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.indywit.com
