BEDFORD – During the North Lawrence School board meeting Thursday night Jenise Roane, Director of Business Services/Treasurer, reported the Indiana State Board of Accounts will be conducting an on-site visit next week.

The audit is a regular audit of the school corporation which is performed on a regular basis. Part of the audit was completed in a Zoom meeting, and next week the audit will be completed in person.

In other business, the school board:

  • Approved the handbooks for Playful Pathways, Community Playful Pathways Development, NLCS Elementary Schools, NLCS Middle Schools, BNL, Gateway Academy, and North Lawrence Career Center
  • Approved the Back to School plan. Dr. Mungle stated things could change throughout the year based on health department recommendations. However masks will be required for school buses, and optional for buidlings. The policy also addresses other issues and concerns.
  • Summer school will end this week following two, three week summer school sessions. There were 175 students who attended this year.

During the public comment period, Tim Morrow asked about the policy regarding “Critical Race Theory” being taught within the North Lawrence Community School Corporation.
