Man arrested after troopers seize 13 pounds of marijuana

PIKE CO. – Tuesday evening, a California man was arrested for dealing approximately 13 pounds of marijuana. 

Tuesday, at approximately 4:31 p.m., an Indiana State Police trooper was working the Pike County area of I-69. The trooper initiated a traffic stop on a Black 2020 Nissan Altima for speeding. 

When the trooper spoke to the driver, he detected the strong odor of raw marijuana coming from inside of the vehicle.  The trooper called for assistance with the stop. The other troopers and a Pike County Sheriff’s Department deputy arrived on the scene. 

A search of the vehicle produced approximately 13 pounds of marijuana in the back seat and the trunk. 

The driver, 26-year-old Arthur Ward, was transported to the Pike County jail where he is being held without bond on felony charges of dealing marijuana over 10 pounds, and possession of marijuana over 10 pounds.
