Medora man arrested for child molesting

JACKSON CO. – A Jackson County man was arrested on one count of child molesting after a three-month investigation by detectives with the Indiana State Police, Versailles Post.

The investigation began in April 2021, when Indiana State Police detectives were requested to conduct an investigation into allegations that a female juvenile was molested at a rural Jackson County home.

During an interview with the victim, conducted by the Child Advocacy Center in Bloomington, Indiana, the victim stated she was touched inappropriately by James D. Lane, age 28 of Medora, on an unknown date at a rural residence in Jackson County.

At the conclusion of the investigation, the case was presented to the Jackson County Prosecutor’s office for review. As a result, a warrant was issued for James Lane on one count of child molesting on July 8, 2021. Lane turned himself into law enforcement. He was incarcerated at the Jackson County Jail pending his initial appearance in court.
