Fire departments remind residents to change batteries in smoke detectors

UNDATED – Local fire departments are reminding residents it is time to change their smoke detectors.

According to statistics, 88 percent of all fire fatalities occur in homes without a working smoke detector.

In 2020, there were 68 fire fatalities in the United States with a total of 17 fire fatalities in the State of Indiana.
