OOLITIC – A Shoals man was arrested on a meth charge after the Oolitic Town Marshal stopped the vehicle, he was a passenger of, for a traffic violation on Main Street near Indiana Avenue.
Police arrested 33-year-old Trenton Chastain on charges of possession of meth in the presence of a minor.
The driver, 30-year-old Carl McCarty, of Mitchell, was issued a summons to appear in court on a charge of driving while his driver’s license was suspended.
A K-9 alerted officers to possible drugs in the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, police found a digital scale with meth residue on it under a child’s car seat. Chastain admitted the scale was his.
