Bedford man arrested after found passed out in a vehicle

BEDFORD – A Bedford man was arrested Saturday at 9:37 a.m. after Bedford Police officers were called to the 1430 block of 19th Street after a report of a male passed out in a vehicle.

The caller said the vehicle had been parked outside their home for more than two hours.

When police arrived they found 37-year-old Michael Gillespie, passed out in the driver’s seat with the engine running.

Officers knocked on the driver’s side window numerous times in an attempt to wake Gillespie.

After finally awaking Gillespie, he stepped out of the vehicle and officers noticed a rolled marijuana cigarette cupped in his hand

In plain view in the vehicle officers saw a glass smoking device in the cup holder in the center console that tested positive for meth.

Gillespie was arrested without incident on charges of possession of meth and marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
