Marilou Root

December 18, 1942 – March 3, 2021

Marilou Root, 78, of Mitchell, passed away at 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at her residence.

Born December 18, 1942, in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Paul and Leona (Skeen) Porter. She married James Root on November 23, 1963, and he survives. She had been a maid for Best Western Hotels in Salina, KS then
worked for Bell Cleaners in Bedford for twenty years. She was a graduate of Fayetteville High School and a member of the Pinhook Church of Christ. She was a dedicated Army wife, traveling to many posts in the U.S. and three tours in Germany.

Survivors include her husband, James, of Mitchell; children, David Root and wife, Joni, of Salina, KS, Kathy Kidwell and husband, Charles, of Mitchell, Michael Root, and wife, Susan, of Bloomington, and Brian Root and wife,
Laura, of Bedford; six grandchildren, Joshua Kidwell and wife, Cheyenne, Jerri Root, Lauryn Root, Bryson Root, Madelyn Root, and Abigale Root; three great-grandchildren, James Kidwell, Alexandria Kidwell, and Viktor Kidwell; a brother, Paul Eugene Porter, of Bedford; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Minnie Terrell and Clarice Craig; two brothers, Clifford and Wayne Porter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 6th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bro. Mike Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Saturday, March 6th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
