Bedford Man Sentenced To 5 Years After Stealing More Than $48,000 In Cigarettes From Revere’s Food & Fuel

(BEDFORD) – A Bedford man was sentenced to five years in prison after he stole cartons of cigarettes from Revere’s Food & Fuel.

According to a probable cause affidavit Bedford Police officers were alerted by the owners of Revere’s in July 2019 that 53-year-old Sol Stivers, an employee at the station, was stealing cartons of cigarettes and then reselling them.

Stivers was caught on store video removing cartons of cigarettes on several occasions from the store and putting them in his truck without paying for them.

A warrant was issued for Stivers arrest.

On February 11, 2020, Stivers pleaded guilty in a negotiated plea deal to one count of theft, a Level 5 felony.

This morning he appeared in Lawrence County Superior Court I where Judge John Plummer III sentenced Stivers to five years in the Indiana Department of Correction. He will serve all five years. He was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $48,847.20 to Revere’s Food and Fuel.
