One Person Injured In 3-Vehicle Accident On 16th Street

(BEDFORD) – One person was injured in a three-vehicle accident on 16th Street and Plaza Drive Sunday morning.

The accident was reported at 10:47 a.m.

According to a Bedford Police Department report, 37-year-old Andrew Mullen, of Mitchell, was traveling east in a 2017 Buick Encore in the left lane of 16th Street and was approaching Plaza Drive.

At the same time, 20-year-old Abigail Allgood, of Bedford, was traveling south across 16th Street onto Plaza Drive in a 2014 Ford Fiesta.

Police say Mullen failed to stop for the red light and struck Allgood’s southbound car and then struck a 2010 Ford F-150 driven by 63-year-old Sarah Whiteman, of Orleans.

Mullen and his passenger told police the traffic light was red, but he was following several other vehicles that went through the red light and that he did strike both vehicles.

Mullen complained of ankle pain and was transported by an IU Health Hospital ambulance to IU Health Hospital for treatment.

Allgood and Whiteman were not injured during the incident.
