Two Arrested After Traffic Stop

(BEDFORD) – Two men were arrested after a Bedford Police officer stopped their vehicle for an equipment violation near 16th and N streets early this morning.

According to Chief Terry Moore, the driver, 19-year-old Toby Garrison, of Bedford, and his passenger, 19-year-old Isaiah Ottinger, of Evansville, appeared to be have been drinking.

“It was determined that both were underage to be consuming alcohol” said Chief Moore. “While placing handcuffs on Garrison he started resisting; officers had to forcibly place handcuffs on him. Garrison refused to get into the police vehicle before spitting on an officer, striking him in the face and chest. Once inside the vehicle he stated kicking the windows and doors.”

While inventorying the vehicle officers located two sawed off shotguns and a revolver.

“One of the shotguns was located underneath the front seat where Ottinger was sitting with the revolver in the center console and the second shot gun in the trunk,” added Chief Moore.

Ottinger is facing charges of possession of a handgun without a license, and illegal consumption.

Garrison is facing charges of battery with bodily waste, possession of a firearm by a felon, resisting arrest, possession of a handgun without a license, and illegal consumption.
