Lawrence County GOP Hosting Community-Wide “BBQ With The Blue” Event

(BEDFORD) – The Lawrence County GOP will be hosting a community-wide “BBQ with the Blue” event on Saturday, September 12 from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. to show support for local law enforcement.

Community members are encouraged to host private cookouts and participate in the event by sharing photos of their gatherings on social media with the hashtag #BBQWithTheBlue.

Lawrence County GOP officials, along with representatives from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department and Bedford, Mitchell, and Oolitic Police Departments will be gathered at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds to answer questions and be available to the community beginning at 11 a.m.

The community is also invited to participate in other activities taking place at the fairgrounds throughout the day. These include a “Cars for Cops” car show, “Back the Blue” motorcycle ride and local food trucks.

Details for the “Back the Blue” motorcycle ride are as follows:

  • Registration: 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds
  • Kickstands up: 11:15 a.m.
  • Return to the fairgrounds between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. 

Details for the “Cars for Cops” car show are as follows:

  • Registration: 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds
  • Awards Presentation: 5 p.m.
  • No entry fee
  • Participants will be eligible for door prizes
  • Awards will be given for multiple categories
