Obituary: Sherry Ann (Qualkenbush) Emmick

Sherry Ann (Qualkenbush) Emmick of Shoals, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2020, at the home of her son, Lance Mountford in Greencastle, Indiana.

She was born June 6, 1947, in Washington, Indiana to James R. and Wilma (Sorrells) Qualkenbush.

She is survived by her son, Lance (Vonda) Mountford of Greencastle; one grandson, Jonathan (Emily) Mountford and daughter Sydney of Greencastle; her mother, Wilma Qualkenbush and brothers, Michael (Debbie) Qualkenbush, David Qualkenbush, Brad (Sandy) Qualkenbush and Shawn Qualkenbush all of Shoals; nieces, Karen Baker, Kelly Shaw and Lyndsey Qualkenbush; nephews, Kevin Qualkenbush, C.J. Qualkenbush, Aaron Qualkenbush and Andrew Qualkenbush; aunts, Jeanne Edwards of Bedford, Marilyn Hardwick of Shoals and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, James R. Qualkenbush; grandparents, Oscar and Bernice Sorrells and James and Vina Qualkenbush, aunts, Hazel Moore, Helen Payne, Ruth Stout; and one uncle Gene Qualkenbush.

Sherry graduated from Shoals High School in 1965 and was a member of the Sampson Hill Church at Lacy. Sherry was a Security Guard for General Motors in Bedford, a jailer for the Lawrence County Sheriffs Department and the Martin County Sheriffs Department and was a Security Guard at the French Lick Casino.

Sherry loved to read and dearly loved her family. She was very special to her brother David whom she loved very much. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. Friday at the Queen-Lee Chapel in Shoals with Bro. Alan Borders officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Visitation is 12 p.m. until the time of service on Friday. The Queen-Lee Chapel of the Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes is entrusted with the arrangements.
