Tuesday Market Opens For Season

(BLOOMINGTON) – The Bloomington Farmers Tuesday Market will open today the season from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Pavilion at Switchyard Park, on South Rogers Street.

Eight farmer vendors will sell on-site with an array of fresh produce including peaches, green beans, blueberries, and tomatoes.

The first half-hour of shopping, from 4 p.m. until 4:30 p.m., is reserved for people who are at a higher risk of contracting an illness.

The new location for Tuesday Market, which was formerly held downtown, offers easier access for southside neighborhood residents. Free parking is also available at the Switchyard Park parking lots off South Rogers Street and Grimes Lane. To visit the Tuesday Market via Bloomington Transit, take #2 South Rogers/Countryview.

The Bloomington Parks Foundation is continuing its support of the Double Market Bucks program at the Tuesday and Saturday Farmers’ Markets by increasing the doubling amount of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits at the Market from $18 to $27 per Market day for the remainder of the 2020 season. SNAP participants may use up to $27 in EBT benefits to purchase up to $54 in “Market Bucks,” which can be used just like cash to purchase qualifying items from Market vendors.

The Tuesday Market will operate in compliance with current public health guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19, including limiting the number of people that enter the Tuesday Market area at any one time, requiring Market vendors to wear face masks, and following recommended physical distancing of at least six feet between people.
