Paving Continues On North End Of Bedford

(BEDFORD) – If you have been out or live in the north end of Bedford or down I Street from Fifth Street to the downtown area, you have noticed an influx of trucks, digging in the streets, grinding of pavement, a few road closures and restrictions from parking on the roads.

The weather has not been conducive to the city’s paving schedules.

Crews will attempt to finish paving M Street from 5th to 7th Street and 4th Street west of Lincoln to S Street on Thursday, May 21.

For residents in that area, your trash, recycle and compost toters will be picked up as normal but could be earlier or later than usual so your toters must be out before 6 a.m. on trash day.

Officials are asking motorists to be patient and avoid this area if you can go around another way on these days.

“Of course, the weather is always a factor, so this schedule is tentative, as we have run into rain the past weeks,” said Mayor Sam Craig. “We want the contractor’s employees, City of Bedford employees, and the public safe. Watch for temporary road closures and slow down. We want to thank all the residences and businesses for their patience.”
