USDA Forest Service Eastern Region Hiring Temporary Fire Positions

(UNDATED) – The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Forest Service Eastern Region is looking for a committed, hardworking and highly skilled workforce to support wildfire suppression efforts and fuels management on 14 national forests and one tallgrass prairie located in states across the region, including Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.

The Eastern Region Fire and Aviation Management Program provides a rewarding opportunity to work in a team with talented colleagues who perform safely in a variety of specialized positions. This announcement includes outreach for fire and fuels technicians, dispatchers, and helitack positions. Helitack crews are teams of wildland firefighters who are transported by helicopter to wildfires.

This outreach is for GS-0462-03 through GS-0462-05 temporary seasonal fire, fuels, and dispatch positions. The Hoosier National Forest is seeking to fill a seasonal dispatcher position to be located in Tell City, Indiana. The vacancy announcements for these positions are posted on USAJobs, the official website for federal employment opportunities. These positions will be open for applications on May 18, 2020. Applicants must respond to the vacancy announcements by May 26, 2020, at 11:59 p.m. EST.
