Loogootee Pool Will Not Open This Year

(LOOGOOTEE) – The city of Loogootee has opted to not open their public pool this summer.

Mayor Noel Harty said there are five pages of state guidelines to operate a public pool amid the COVID-19 pandemic and there is just not enough manpower to do all the required cleaning required in the rate required under those regulations.

Mayor Harty says under the new guidelines the splash pad and the slide opened, would have to sanitize it after each use which would be nearly impossible with the current staff.

Along with the cleaning guidelines, there are also social distancing guidelines to follow.

Officials are also concerned attendance will be down because of COVID-19 concerns.

Mayor Harty says if all goes well the pool will open next summer.
