Obituary: Barbara May (Brock) McFadden

February 19, 1933 – January 30, 2020

Barbara May (Brock) McFadden age 86 of Bedford passed away Thursday, January 30, 2020, at 11:08 Pm at White River Lodge in Bedford.

She was born on February 19, 1933, to James S. and Eva I. (Dalton) Brock. She married Robert Lee McFadden on April 15, 1950, and he preceded her in death.


Barbara was a graduate of Fayetteville High School Class of 1950 Barbara and Bob ran McFadden Grocery in Judah for 30 years, she also worked at RCA, sold Stanley Home Products, Bee Line clothing, friendly home sales, and Cerama Company. Barbara was a member of the Guthrie Christian Church, Guthrie Ladies Aide, Open Heart Fellowship, Lawrence County Women’s Dept. Club, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Democratic Party.

Barbara loved her family, church, playing cards, cooking, flowers, decorating her home, IU sports, and the Chicago Cubs.


Barbara is survived by her daughter, Terri Lea McFadden, niece, Mary I. Brashear, nephews, John D. “Moe” Ratkovich and James M. Ratkovich, grandchildren, Aimee Dawn Hirtz, Sally AnnCheek, David Shane McFadden, David M. Hansen, Benjamin J. Hansen, great-grandchildren, Jordan R. Tussey, Luke E. Dalton, Allison J. Dalton, Megan C. Cheek, Hunter L. McFadden, Raven E. Hansen, Thaddeus D.M. Hansen, great-great-grandchildren, Liam E. Dalton-Young, Ameilia C. Dalton-Young, nieces and
nephews, Billy, Debbie Williams, Diane, Lee, Joe, Jana, Scotty and Troy McFadden, lifelong friends, Martha Meadow, Tommy Brashear, Jim Kirkman, and Brenda Capraro.


Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Betty Lou (Brock) Ratkovich, sons, David Bruce McFadden and Jay Douglas McFadden, grandson, Sean David McFadden, and great-great-granddaughter, Scarlett Mae Dalton.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at Guthrie Christian Church, burial will follow in Clover Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg, Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10:00 Am until service time at 2:00 Pm at Guthrie Christian Church Cresthaven Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
