Celebrate the Life of Martin Luther King Jr at IU School of Education

(BLOOMINGTON) – Celebrate the life of Martin Luther King Jr. during events at the IU School of Education.

These Community Teach-Ins are free and open to the public.

This Sunday, January 19th, all elementary students and families are invited to a Birthday Celebration for Dr. Martin King Luther King, Jr.

Watch a brief movie and reflect on the legacy of Dr. King. Sing and have birthday cake. The first 100 kids will receive a book about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The event is from 2 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. in the IU School of Education Atrium. Youth must be accompanied by a parent or a guardian.

 On Monday, January 20th, All middle and high school students are invited to join and engage in conversations using movie clips and music to explore current social issues in relation to Dr. King’s vision. 

Youth will also participate in thoughtful dialogue and write a letter to a relevant entity advocating for their issue.

The event begins at Noon until 2 p.m. in the IU School of Education Atrium.
