Indiana Department of Education Releases 2019 Graduation Rates

(INDIANAPOLIS) – The Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) released the 2019 state graduation rate report.

In 2019, Indiana’s graduation rate was 87.29 percent, and the non-waiver rate was 76.73 percent. In 2018, Indiana’s graduation rate was 88.1 percent with a non-waiver graduation rate of 80.78 percent.

Bedford North Lawrence

  • Students graduating within 4 Years: 79.9%, the state average is 88.1%.
  • Students graduating within 5 Years: is 87.5%, the state average is 85.5%.

What diploma designations are graduates earning:

  • General – 28.2%, the state average is 9.5%.
  • Core 40 – 24.9%, the state average 50.7%.
  • Honors – 46.8%, the state average 39.8%
  • Waiver Graduates – 7.2%, the state average 8.3%

Status of students in this corporation who did not receive a diploma within four years:

  • Special Education Certificate – 2.2%, the state average 1.1%
  • High School Equivalency – 0.2%, the state average 0.2%
  • Continuing Students – 3.8%, the state average
  • Dropouts – 13.7%, the state average 5.1%

Due to differences between federal and state accountability calculations, IDOE also released 2019 federal graduation rates. In 2019, Indiana’s federal graduation rate was 86.46 percent. Indiana’s federal graduation rate for 2018 was 87.23 percent.
