Shoals Man Killed in Accident

(SHOALS) – A Shoals man was killed Monday evening after his vehicle went off US 50 West and struck a road sign.

According to a Martin County Sheriff’s Department report, 22-year-old Grady Key was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers and emergency crews responded to the scene at 8:49 p.m. after multiple 911 calls.

Deputy John Wright, Shoals Fire Department, Martin County Ambulance and Martin County Coroner’s Office all responded to the scene.

According to police Key was traveling west on US 50 when for an unknown reason he lost control of his vehicle, went off the north side of the roadway, and struck a road sign. The vehicle then crossed the eastbound lane of travel and came to a stop on the south side of the road in a ditch. The vehicle then caught fire.

The accident remains under investigation.
