R. Dale Rainey, 67, of Bedford, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2019, at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born February 25, 1952, in Bedford, he was the son of Richard Dale and Phyllis (Henderson) Rainey. He married Donna Thompson on May 26, 2008, and she survives.
He was a graduate of Shawswick High School Class of 1970 where he was a member of the basketball team and a graduate of Lincoln Tech. Dale worked at Kaiser Aluminum, Ford Visteon, Monroe County School System, and had a lifelong passion for his mowing business. He was on the board of trustees at the Springville West Cemetery.
Surviving include his wife Donna, of Bloomington; step-daughter, Trisha (Chris) Holmes, of Maryland, and their children, Caroline and Clayton Holmes; one sister, Janet (Frank) Basinger; one brother, Greg (Pam) Rainey, of Springville; one niece, Mindy Rainey, of Springville; great-nephew, Brayden; great-niece, Kylee; two step-granddaughters, Julie and Jessica; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pat; and son, Ron.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2019, at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes, with Bro. Keith Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Springville West Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service hour on Saturday at the funeral chapel.
