Marion Township Firefighters Rescue Boy At Spring Mill State Park

(MITCHELL) – Marion Township Volunteer Fire Department firefighters rescued a boy after he climbed a tree and got stuck at Spring Mill State Park Monday afternoon.


According to Marion VFD Chief Paul Gillespie, the 11 to a 12-year-old boy was riding his bike on a trail at Spring Mill State Park when he got spooked by an animal. He climbed a nearby tree to escape. He was approximately 30 feet in the
tree.
The department sent Squad 55 brush rig, and ATV, five firefighters and used a 35-foot ladder to rescue the young man.
A firefighter was sent up to bring the young man down.
The boy was not injured.
