Amish Man Injured, Horse Killed In Orange County Accident

(MILLERSBURG) – An Amish man was injured and a horse killed in an accident on State Road 56 East, east of Paoli on Tuesday morning.


According to an Orange County Police report, the accident happened at 10:06 a.m.
According to police, David S. Foutch of Campbellsburg was traveling east on State Road 56 East, east of
Paoli, when he rear-ended a horse-drawn buggy operated by Joas Lambright of Paoli.
Joas Lambright suffered serious injuries and was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital. One of the horses died at the scene, the other horse was not injured during the incident.
Foutch could not explain to police why the accident occurred but did say his windshield was glaring from the sun.
Due to severe injuries due to the crash, Foutch submitted to a field sobriety and chemical test at the scene. Foutch did not show any signs of intoxication or drug activity.
The accident remains under investigation by the Orange County Police Department.
Assisting at the scene were Orange County Police Department, Orange County Ambulance Service, and Livonia Fire Department.
