Multiple Traffic Shifts On State Road 37 In Martinsville At Grand Valley Boulevard

(MARTINSVILLE) – Traffic conditions on State Road 37 in the Martinsville construction zone will be changing as crews continue working to replace drainage structures at Grand Valley Boulevard.

On or after Wednesday, May 15, traffic will be reduced to one through lane on both northbound and southbound State Road 37 between Ohio Street and State Road 252. There will be two left turn lanes available from southbound SR 37 onto Grand Valley Blvd. and one right turn lane available from northbound State Road 37 onto Grand Valley Blvd.
On or after Wednesday, May 22, both northbound and southbound State Road 37 will be open to two lanes of traffic. The northbound lanes will shift to the left and be placed on new pavement through the Grand Valley Blvd. intersection.
In the May 22 lane configuration, the right through lane on northbound State Road 37 will also act as the right turn lane onto Grand Valley Blvd., so motorists should be aware of turning vehicles. Drivers turning right onto Grand Valley Blvd. are urged to use turn signals well in advance of the intersection to alert cars behind them. All motorists in the right-hand lane should leave additional space between vehicles and be aware of slowing traffic.
The speed limit in the construction zone is 45 mile per hour. Motorists are encouraged to be aware of changing traffic conditions and to drive with no distractions. Construction activity and traffic changes are weather dependent and this schedule is subject to change.
The traffic phasing that has allowed crews to install the new drainage structure will be reversed for removal of the old structure. Updates will be sent prior to traffic shifts and will be posted on the I-69 Section 6 Facebook page. The reversed phasing is anticipated to last through the end of June.
