John Mark Evans – Bedford

John M. “Speedy” Evans, 58, of Bedford, died at 1:51 pm on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at his residence.
Born July 23, 1960 in Bedford, he was the son of Eddie L. and Mary C. (Chilton) Evans.
He was a retired Planerman/Stonecutter for Architectural Stone Sales. He was an avid race fan and loved to travel. A highly gifted stonecutter, he carved four full-sized limestone race cars, two of which are on display at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Survivors include children, Dakota Evans, Damian Evans, and Sierra Evans Norris and husband, Alex, all of Bedford;
grandchildren, Koltyn Lee Evans and Caroline Carter Norris; the mother of his children, Jamie Evans; siblings, Susie Kern, Judy Cessna, Jenny Semssar, and Bill Evans.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Roy “Spike” Evans, his parents, and a brother, Gary Evans.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 26th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 25th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Martha L. Hawkins – Bedford
January 17, 1937 – April 19, 2019
Martha L. Hawkins, 82, of Bedford, died at 1:45 p.m. on Friday, April 19, 2019, at Paoli Health and Living Center.
Born January 17, 1937, she was the daughter of Perry E. and Georgia M (Bolding) Staggs. She married Richard Nicholson and he preceded her in death. She was a retired custodial supervisor for the Monroe County School Corporation for thirty years.
Survivors include two sons, Rick Nicholson and Steven Nicholson; two brothers, Perry Lee Staggs and William (Bill) Staggs; a sister, Oneida Helms; several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, a son, Robert Nicholson and a brother, Kenneth Staggs.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bro. Perry East officiating. Burial will follow in the White River Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the hour of service on Wednesday, April 24th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
