Man Sentenced To 63 Years For Killing Woman; Awaits Second Murder Trial

(INDIANAPOLIS) – A 37-year-old Indianapolis man has been sentenced to 63 years in prison for the slaying of a woman who was stabbed more than 30 times and shot in her home on the east side of the city.

Karl Woodall learned his sentence Wednesday after being convicted of murder in the death of 37-year-old Stefanie Coulson at her home in March 2017.
During his trial, prosecutors contended that Woodall became angry when he realized Coulson had taken his van while he slept and shot her in the head and neck and stabbed her repeatedly when she returned. He was arrested three days later while driving the van.
Woodall is currently scheduled for trial in September on a murder charge in another 2017 slaying.
