(BLOOMFIELD) – The Greene County Sheriff’s Department issued a warning Friday about a Publisher’s Clearing House scam.
A county resident received a letter in the mail saying they had won $600,000.
The intended victim was told to cash a realistic looking bogus check for a few thousand dollars to pay the scammers for taxes and handling.
If successfully deposited in your bank account, your bank may not detect the bogus check for a few days, but not before you send money to the scammers, leaving you owing thousands to the bank.
