Bloomington Police Investigating Shooting

(BLOOMINGTON) – The Bloomington Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred during the
overnight hours in an alleyway near the 400 block of East Kirkwood Avenue.


According to Bloomington Police Capt. Captain Ryan Pedigo, this morning at approximately 1:59 a.m., the Bloomington Police Department was dispatched to the intersection of East Kirkwood Avenue and North Dunn Street in response to multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots being heard in the area.
Upon arrival, officers were directed by bystanders to the alleyway south of the businesses located in the 400 block of East Kirkwood Avenue. Officers located several spent shell casings in the alleyway. A vehicle that was seen leaving the area was stopped and the occupants were questioned by investigators, but all occupants were eventually released.
While collecting evidence at the scene, investigators were advised that a 23-year-old man had checked in to the IU Health Bloomington Hospital Emergency Department seeking treatment for a gunshot wound to the leg. The man is in stable condition and the wound is not believed to be life-threatening.
Detectives continue to investigate the shooting.
