Purdue Punches Ticket To Sweet 16

(HARTFORD, CT) – Purdue punched their ticket to the Sweet 16 on Saturday as they soundly defeated defending champion Villanova 87-61.

Carsen Edwards exploded for a career-high 42 points but said he was just as surprised as anyone when he saw his final point total.
“I wouldn’t say I knew I had a career night until the game was over,” he said. “I was just so focused on trying to get the win, especially in games like this where you value every possession.”
The Boilermakers shot just under 54-percent from the field and out-rebounded the Wildcats 42-24.
Purdue will now face the 2nd-seeded Tennessee Volunteers on Thursday night in Louisville with the winner advancing to the Elite 8.
