B-Line Trail At Switchyard Park Scheduled For Overnight Closing Thursday, Re-Opening Friday

(BLOOMINGTON) – Utility work in Switchyard Park will require an overnight closing of the B-Line Trail between Grimes Lane and the west access spur at Hillside Drive from 6 p.m. Thursday, through 7 a.m. Friday. The closing will allow for the installation of a 27″ reinforced concrete pipe to channel stormwater from the parking lot at Grimes Lane.

A detour allowing pedestrian and bicycle traffic to bypass the closure safely utilizes the sidewalks along Grimes Lane, Madison Street, and Hillside Drive. A short connector trail joins Hillside Drive to the B-Line Trail south of the closure area. The alternate route will be marked with B-Line Trail detour signs.

As the pipe installation requires cutting through the asphalt on the B-Line Trail, it has been scheduled at night to minimize disruption to trail users. Once the pipe is in place, crews will fill in the trench and repair the cut in the B-Line Trail with cold patch asphalt to maintain the trail’s accessible surface until it is permanently re-paved.
The B-Line Trail will re-open to pedestrian and bicycle traffic at 7 a.m. on Friday.
