Orange County Historical Society Gearing Up for 2019 with New Program Announcement

(PAOLI) – Orange County Historical Society (OCHS) President Robert Henderson has announced that the organization is excited about starting its new year and has been busy over the winter months planning a number of new programs and membership activities.

The group’s first regular meeting for 2019 will be Tuesday, March 26th 7 p.m. at the Paoli Public Library. Author Vicky Haralovich will be discussing Daniel Boone in Orange County. Haralovich along with Michele Dutcher has recently authored the book, Daniel Boone’s Days in Indiana: Boone’s Indiana Track.
April 23rd will find the group “traveling” back into time on the good old Monon Railroad with local Monon enthusiast Jeff Cunningham. Everyone aboard as we learn a bit about the history of the once famed Hoosier Line.
The group is also planning a Book Signing and Program with Bob Moody, author of “The Terror of Indiana: Bent Jones & The Moody-Tolliver Feud.” The event is set for mid-April.
And while the Museum located on the Paoli Courthouse Square remains closed to regular visitors at this time, the OCHS extends a special invitation to any area school, civic, clubs and small groups interested in taking a private guided tour. If you would like to schedule a visit or a special program, contact President Robert Henderson at 812 653 1212 for more details and to make an appointment.
The historic Lindley House is not presently open for tours at this time. Renovation work on the upstairs area is continuing with new period wall coverings, and window treatments. The site will reopen on an appointment basis later this spring.
