Two Drivers Injured in Accident in Salem

(SALEM) – Two drivers were injured in a two-vehicle accident on State Road 56 East and the bypass in Salem Monday morning.


According to a Salem Police report, 41-year-old Sarah Weston, of Austin, was driving a 1998 Jeep Cherokee on the bypass when her vehicle was struck by a 2000 Chevrolet pickup driven by 63-year-old Johnny Cross who was traveling west on State Road 56 East.
Firefighters had to use the jaws of life to extricate Cross from his pickup.
Both Weston and Cross were taken to St. Vincent Salem Hospital. Cross, who was seriously injured was then taken to the en taken to the University of Louisville Hospital for treatment.
Assisting at the scene were reconstructionist from the Indiana State Police, deputies with the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, Salem firefighters and Washington County EMS.
