Residents Of Monroe County Urged To Report Storm Damage

(MONROE CO.) – Homeowners and renters in the City of Bloomington, Ellettsville, Stinesville and Monroe County are encouraged to report damage and loss suffered during this week’s heavy storms and subsequent flooding to Monroe County Emergency Management.

Residents may complete a report of the damage at www.co.monroe.in.us under the Recent News section or leave their contact information at (812) 349-2997. Business owners may also report damage or loss caused by the recent weather events at the county’s website.
Monroe County Emergency Management is collecting reports of storm-related damage and loss that the State of Indiana will then present for consideration to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Depending on the volume of reports, FEMA will determine whether to allocate emergency funds to reimburse residents for storm-related damage and loss.
Reports may be filed regarding damage to a variety of homes, including apartments, duplexes, trailers, houses built on a slab, and houses with full basements. Although completing the report will not ensure reimbursement for damage-related costs, Monroe County will not qualify for federal funds in the absence of a critical number of reports.
