Visitor Restrictions Implemented In Women And Children Services At IU Health Bloomington Hospital

(BLOOMINGTON ) – As of today, no one under the age of 18 years will be allowed to visit on the Labor & Delivery, Mother/Baby and Pediatric Units at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.

The temporary restriction is being taken to limit patients’ exposure to RSV during the height of the respiratory viral season.
The policy will be in place until administrators and medical professionals at the facility determine a lower- incident chance for contracting or spreading the virus.
Until further notice, only the patient’s parents and/or significant other, and/or legal guardians plus two people identified by the parents or guardians will be allowed to visit in our pediatric unit.
For Labor & Delivery and Mother/Baby, the patient may have the significant other plus two visitors. These two identified visitors will be given an orange band.
Once visitors are designated and banded, they must remain the same from admission to discharge and cannot be changed.
Before entering the hospital, the designated visitors should wash their hands and comply with requests to use hand sanitizer. Also be aware that anyone with a cold or flu symptoms within the previous week should not enter the hospital.
In addition to hospital restrictions, officials at the hospital have indicated that Outreach Classes for Toddler
Tours and Sibling Preparation are canceled until visiting restrictions have been lifted.
