Betty L. Roach – Bedford
November 4, 1926 – October 16, 2016
Betty L. Roach, 89, of Bedford, died at 4 a.m. on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at I.U. Health Hospice House in Bloomington.
Born November 4, 1926, in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Ora and Minnie (Grey) Watterson. She married Wayne Roach on August 3, 1946 and he preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Mitchell High School with the class of 1945 and was a member of the Southland Church of Christ. She had worked at Reliance Manufacturing in Mitchell and Hoffman’s in Orleans.
Survivors include three daughters, Janet Harkness and Vicky Flinn and husband, Dick, all of Bedford, Julie Peterson and husband, Daryl, of Bettendorf, IA; a son, Scotty Roach and wife, Rosanna (Rosie), of Bedford; three granddaughters, Jamie Denny of North Carolina, Jennifer Roach, of Bedford, and Elizabeth Peterson, of IA; four grandsons, Michael Roach and wife, Tara, of Mitchell, Steven Roach, of Bedford, Kevin Roach and wife, Haley, of Rockville, IN, and Matthew Peterson, of IA; four greatgrandchildren, Cole, Serenity, Zoey and Oliver.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Tracey Roach and twelve siblings.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 20th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bud Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Leatherwood Christian Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Georgiana Tripp – Bedford
January 23, 1926 – October 15, 2016
Georgiana Tripp, 90, of Bedford, formerly of Shoals, passed away at 1:45 a.m. Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Stonebridge Health Campus.
Born January 23, 1926, in Tabor, South Dakota, she was the daughter of Rudolph and Frances Stratil.
She married Leonard Tripp on August 6, 1944; and he survives.
Georgiana worked in Washington D.C. in the FBI Department, was also employed at Crane, and was a homemaker for several years. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Georgiana was a member of the Red Hat Society.
Surviving are her husband, Leonard, of Bedford; one son, Gary (Rowena) Tripp, of Shoals; one daughter, Judy Tripp, of New Jersey; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, with Father Rick Eldred and Johnny Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Dive Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday, 10 a.m. till 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Gene “Stub” Sanders – Huron

Gene “Stub” Sanders, 83, of Huron, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2016, at his residence.
Born July 26, 1933, in Orleans, he was the son of Clarence D. and Hazel M. (Goodpaster) Sanders. He married Marion R. Caraway February 21, 1957, and she preceded him in death February 4, 2003.
He retired from National Gypsum with 31 years of service, and in retirement, he repaired lawnmowers. Gene was a member of Martin County Coon Hunters Club, Orange County Conservation Club, Mitchell Senior Citizens, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved spending time with his family.
He was a U. S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post No. 250.
Survivors include his children, Tony E. (Patty) Sanders of Mitchell, Jeffery W. (Elizabeth) Sanders of Loogootee, Cynthia J. Clymer of Loogootee, James A. Sanders of Mitchell, John D. (Leslie) Sanders of West Chester, Ohio; special friend, Mary Martin of Mitchell; grandchildren, Tony E. Sanders II, Misty D, Weigle, Brandi M. Gilbert, Jacob C. Sanders, Benjamin D. Clymer, Sarah K. Sanders, Lucas A. Sanders, and Jackson J. Sanders; 13 great grandchildren; siblings, Leroy Sanders of French Lick, Kenny Sanders of Orleans, James Sanders of Orleans, Sandy Morrison of Mitchell
His parents and siblings, Leon Sanders, William Sanders, Dorothy Lane, Robert Sanders, Wanda Woodford, and JoAnn Sanders, preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 19, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Reverend Mike Williams officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Horeb Baptist Cemetery with military honors accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107. Friends may call from 3 p.m. till 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:30 a.m. until the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
