(UNDATED) - Recycling just got easier for central Indiana residents after a new recycling facility was dedicated Wednesday.

Republic services' Indianapolis operation has dedicated the region's first single-stream material recovery facility.

General Manager Barry Pruitt says the 280 feet long, 35 feet high system is the first of its kind in central Indiana.

Pruitt says the facility will make recycling easier since the facility sorts the materials so people don't have to do it at home.

Pruitt says the facility can handle 20 tons of materials per hour.
