(PENDLETON, IN) - The Indiana Department of Correction anticipates saving millions of dollars in energy costs with the installation of a wood-fired biomass boiler at its prisons.

The Pendleton Correctional Facility is the first of four prisons to receive energy efficient facility upgrades, including the biomass boilers.

Other correctional facilities to be impacted include those located in Plainfield, Westville and Michigan city.

A boiler was placed in the Putnamville facility a month ago.
