Former Puppy Mill Puppies Are Available For Adoption
(INDIANAPOLIS) - A group of dogs rescued from an alleged puppy mill in southern Indiana are up for adoption in Indianapolis.
The Humane Society of Indianapolis took in over 20 dogs following a raid that netted at least 200 dogs.
A few of the dogs rescued from the puppy mill became available for adoption Friday.
The rest will be adopted after they receive more medical treatment.
Spokesman Tristan Schmid says dozens of people have called about the dogs.
Schmid says they need companions willing to provide some extra care since they lack basic socialization.
Schmid hopes people looking for a pet will open their hearts to other animals as well.
The shelter has 250 cats waiting for homes, twice as many as usual because they're at the peak of breeding season.
The Humane Society is offering two-for-one on cats and kittens, with the hopes of placing more in homes.
