(UNDATED) - It may be easier to score tickets for concerts or sporting events after a new state law takes effect in July.

Legislators hope to level the playing field between regular ticket buyers and scalpers by banning software designed to get around limits on how many tickets you can purchase online.

The new law makes it a misdemeanor to buy or sell so-called "hoarding" software. Violators could face up to a year in jail.

At least five other states have passed similar bans.

Representative Sandy Blanton, who authored Indiana's version, says she'd like to see legislators review whether scalping should be legal in the first place.
