(INDIANAPOLIS) - Governor Daniels stopped at the Indianapolis Community Health Fair on Wednesday to celebrate the fourth anniversary of the state’s prescription drug plan, known as RX for Indiana.

Since 2005, the initiative has matched nearly 270 thousand Hoosiers with programs offering free or reduced price medications.

Daniels says the plan answered a need to streamline the application process among a patchwork of unique prescription aid programs in the state.

Daniels called the RX for Indiana plan the most important health care initiative in America, but lamented that it's gotten little publicity.

To increase its profile, there's an RX for Indiana "help is here express" bus tour visiting locations around the state.

Stops are planned for Indianapolis, Gary, Elkhart, Vincennes and Bedford.

The tour is designed to help uninsured or financially struggling Hoosiers get information on the programs that provide prescription medicines at little or no cost.
