Gas Prices Down From This Point Last Year

(UNDATED) - Regular gasoline retail prices will average $2.21 per gallon during the summer driving season according to the Energy Information Administration.

That's down about $1.50 from last summer when gasoline prices eclipsed four dollars a gallon in July.

Greg Seiter with triple-a Hoosier motor club says prices usually increase around Memorial Day.

That's due primarily to the beginning of the peak summer driving season and the introduction of the reformulated summer blend of gasoline.

Seiter says the price of gasoline levels off by the first of June and generally remains flat for the rest of the summer.

Experts say barring a supply interruption, we shouldn't see another major price spike like last summer.
