Roseland Councilman Asking For Release From Prison
(ROSELAND) - A former Roseland Town Council member serving a jail sentence for battery is asking to be freed from prison.
David Snyder filed a petition for his release on March 30, just over a month after he was sent to jail.
He was sentenced in September to serve 300 hours of community service for hitting and kicking fellow Roseland Town Council member Ted Penn, but was later sent to jail to serve the remainder of his two-month suspended sentence after failing to follow the program.
Synder claims he suffers from multiple sclerosis and post traumatic stress disorder, issues that limit his ability to perform community service. However, a judge was angered by reports that Synder had used a snow blower the day before he came to court to plead his case.
That judge will consider Snyder's petition for release on April 21st.
