INDOT To Participate In Study Of Truck-Only Lanes On I-70
(UNDATED) - Indiana is joining 3 other states in a federal study to determine the feasibility of truck only lanes on Interstate-70.
INDOT spokesman Bruce Childs says the project will look at 800 miles of highway through Indiana, Ohio, Missouri, and Illinois.
The study is being funded with $5 million in federal grant money and should take about 2 years to complete.
Childs says the study will consider the costs and benefits including safety, commerce, and many other issues.
Childs says even if the study determines the project is a good idea, it is decades away from coming to fruition.
