Dog Lovers Rally Against "Puppy Mills"
(INDIANAPOLIS) - It’s called the Defend The Dogs Rally Against Puppy Mills.
Anne Sterling with the Humane Society says puppy mills are huge facilities that breed dogs by the thousands and do not provide adequate care for them.
A rally in downtown Indianapolis Wednesday was held to draw attention to puppy mills and put and end to them.
Terri Scott, one of the rally organizers, says most dogs breed in puppy mills are sold in pet stores or on the internet. She says it's a good idea to look for a dog at a store when pet rescue groups schedule adoption days.
Author Jana Kohl stopped at the rally as part of her nationwide book tour. Her new book, "A Rare Breed Of Love", is about puppy mills and animals abuse. She stopped at the rally with her dog "Baby".
