(WASHINGTON, D-C) - Congress is currently considering $19 billion dollars in cuts that would threaten children’s healthcare programs.

The cuts would severely impact the care that children's hospitals can provide. As a result of growing concerns and enormous cuts on the table in Congress, parents and their children are in Washington, D.C. to ask Congress to block these proposed cuts and to tell congressional leaders their personal health stories.

Among them--- 17-year-old Leah Smith and her mom Joan of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Leah underwent heart transplant surgery at Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis when she was an infant.

Leah and her mom are meeting with Hoosier Congressmen Mark Souder and Andre Carson and senators Richard Lugar and Evan Bayh, to share their support of the increased funding of children's hospitals .
